New intern Alan

This is Alan. He’s the latest recruit to our team. He will mainly be responsible for monitoring and producing content for our Twitter account. He’s hasn’t been to Malawi yet, but he loves Malawi music, and he knows his social media stuff. Alan says:

“Listen, we have to do something about this Twitter Thing… Everybody loves us on Facebook, but we don’t have enough followers on Twitter! Well, with me in charge, we’ll turn this ship around! Now click  here to join the fun!”

Better do as he says, People!

Danny Kalima Malawi Release Party

While Bristol is grey and chilly, we wish we were down in Lilongwe, Malawi, for the release party of Danny Kalima’s album ‘The Young Shall Grow’ @ The Chameleon Bar, tonight 8 pm local time! All we can do from here is to listen to the record on iTunes!

Mattias @ BBC, Bristol

Mattias has been interviewed on BBC ‘Focus on Africa’ from London and it’s airing today, Wednesday the 26th of November, at 17.15 and 19.15 GMT time (19.15 and 21.15 Malawi time). He’s talking about the record company and about the release of Danny Kalima’s album ‘The Young shall grow’. Listen Live on-line from here or if you are in Africa – just turn the radio on to BBC World Service.

‘Dusty City’ music video is released

This is Lilongwe, the capital city of the Warm Heart of Africa – Malawi. We want to share great African music with the world, so let Danny Kalima take you to the city he calls home.

This music video, like the album ‘The Young Shall Grow’, has been produced in Malawi by Moto Wambili Studios in Nkhata Bay. For this video, though, we’ve gotten some help from A-J Leaper and Jeandre Pieterse with great camera work and direction on location in Lilongwe – some 5 hours away from the Bay.

Not only does Spare Dog Records bring you the sounds of Malawi, we also bring you the sights!
